We at the Open World Spice Company are concerned about the environment and the impact businesses have on the world in which we live. We are trying to be as green as possible with this venture: our small glass jars are easily reusable for other spices or repurposed to hold small objects around the home or office, we are producing very little paper waste, no snail mail for us, and are in the process of setting up online payments for our retailers. Even our website is energy efficient in that it has very little white light, allowing your monitor to use less energy.
We know this isn’t enough and are curious how others are dealing with environmental impacting business decisions and whether or not businesses are following through on their “green” initiatives?
My goal is to get 1,000 responses to the questionnaire. If you take the time to fill in the questionnaire, please leave your email address, then I’ll take the time to evaluate the responses and prepare a report for you to review. I’m quite sure that the findings will make for an interesting read.
If you like the questionnaire, please feel free to forward this link, via email only, to your business partners, colleagues and associates, and ask them to participate as well.
When filling out the questionnaire don’t worry about not being the most environmentally friendly business. We have no intent on singling out any individual, business or industry. There will not be any criticism directed at any business or industry for “not doing enough”. Some industries are not very environmentally friendly, not necessarily by their choice for it is our demand for these goods and services that have created these industries. For some of us, this is going to be a long arduous journey making these changes.
Even if you don’t feel you do enough, at least send us something so that you will be able to review the findings and perhaps find a few ideas for your business. If there are any questions that you don’t feel comfortable answering, that’s okay, just answer what you can, or what you want to, but be sure to go to the final page and submit your email so that I can send you the results. Not to worry, no one other than myself will contact you regarding the questionnaire.
This is just a start to try to get us thinking about change and to hopefully motivate us into making changes.
I hope that in the end this exercise will enable us to communicate, dialogue and learn from each other with the common goal of leaving our planet a better place than whence we found it. Our children and our children’s children deserve our commitment to try harder.
